Dorthea Lange
She went to the rough places that others would not, capturing the plight in the daily lives of the people through her photos. She documented the reality of the Dust bowl, the Great depression, and the Japanese American interment. She eventually became a huge part of American history with her photographs being a look back to the past. She also struggled with polio her whole photography career.
Lewis Hine
He took pictures for social reform. He captured images of child labour in America revealing the injuries it came with. His photographs had an influence in changing the child labour laws in the United States.
Eadweard Muybridge
He was an English photographer and is famous for his work in photographing motion. Also for his work in early motion picture projection. He had made a bet with his friend that all the legs of a horse are airborne at one point during it's gallop. He discovered that he was right and won the bet. He also took pictures of Humans walking, jumping and birds flying.
Matthew Brady
He was one of the first American photographers. He is known for his photographs of the civil war. He photographed 18 of the 19 presidents and also portraits of many senior officers in the war.
